Text kordi

Turn texts into plans, right from Messages.

Someone texts you "dinner Friday at 7?" and the plan usually dies in the thread. With a one-time setup, your phone can hand messages like that to kordi, which drafts the event for you: title, time, place, people. You review the draft and tap once to make it real.

Privacy first: this runs entirely on your phone using Apple and Android automation tools you control. kordi never reads your messages. Only the text you choose to send it ever reaches kordi, and nothing is created until you confirm the draft.

The everyday way (no setup needed)

In any conversation, press and hold a message, tap Share, and choose Create kordi event. kordi reads the text, drafts the plan, and you confirm. This works on both iPhone and Android.

The automatic way (iPhone)

iPhones running iOS 17 or later can run an automation whenever a message arrives. Two minutes of setup:

  1. Open the Shortcuts app and go to the Automation tab.
  2. Tap New Automation and choose Message.
  3. Set From to the friends you plan with, or set Message Contains to a keyword like "plan". Choose Run Immediately, then tap Next.
  4. Add the action URL Encode and set its input to Shortcut Input.
  5. Add the action Open URLs and set the URL to kordi://capture?text= followed by the URL Encoded Text variable.
  6. Done. When a matching text arrives, kordi opens with the plan already drafted.

Good to know:

  • kordi opens on screen to show you the draft. iPhones do not let apps read or process messages silently, which is a good thing.
  • If your phone is locked, the draft appears after you unlock.
  • Use a sender or keyword filter rather than "any message", so only real plans open kordi.
  • You always get the final say: nothing is created until you confirm.

On Android

The share sheet flow above is the smoothest path: select the message text, share, choose Create kordi event. Automation fans using Tasker can add a profile that opens kordi://capture?text= with the URL-encoded message body.

Replying without opening the app

kordi notifications carry quick actions. Press and hold an invite notification to answer Going or Can't go on the spot, and goal nudges let you log progress with a quick note, straight from the notification.

Note: kordi does not send you SMS messages for any of this. Verification texts remain the only SMS kordi sends, per our SMS Terms.
